Roomba is a range of vacuum cleaning robots from iRobot with several models. As vacuum cleaning robots, the models belong to the service robots . Roomba was introduced in 2002 and sold over 15 million times worldwide by 2016. This makes Roomba the world's most successful service robot.
Working method
The models differ in equipment and performance. The model 581 has a remote control, three "Virtual Wall Lighthouses" and can be started at a specific time via a clock. The Lighthouses can be used to control up to four rooms one after the other, whereby a total of approx. 80 m² can be cleaned. After the cleaning process is complete, the device uses the lighthouses to find its way back to its charging station, where it automatically docks and then charges its battery again. Other models are designed for only 40 m², have no remote control, work without lighthouses and have no time control. All models are intended for unattended autonomous operation. All models from model 400 upwards have a documented programming interface.
Others
