Service robot

As service robots - also spelled service robots ( borrowed from the American-English service robot ) or also (partly translated as loan ) as service robots - robots are referred to, which previously provide simple services for humans. The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) has described the term service robot based on ISO 8373: 2012 as follows: “ A service robot is a robot which operates semi- or fully autonomously to perform services useful to the well-being of humans and equipment, excluding manufacturing operations. ”The standard differentiates between service robots for private individuals and“ professional service robotics ”. For the main target group - households - individual types such as swimming pool robots have been in use for years, and there are also vacuum cleaner robots , floor mopping robots and lawnmowers .

Service robots are widely used in Japan . In addition to simple activities such as vacuuming, these are used for monitoring. In Europe , vacuum cleaner robots and lawn mowers are predominantly on the market at the moment . In the United States , they are currently found in millions of households.
