Jake Schreier (born September 29, 1981 in Berkeley , California ) is an American director and film producer who became internationally known through the cinema productions Robot & Frank and Margo's footsteps .

life and career

Jake Schreier, born in 1980 to a family of academics from Berkeley, graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in 2003. He began his career with short films and music videos . In 2006, he signed a contract with Park Pictures and appeared on the lists of Best New Directors in Creativity, Shots, Boards, and Shoot Magazines. In addition, Schreier worked with well-known agencies such as Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, Heat, Mcgarrybowen and TBWA partnership and staged marketing campaigns for clients such as The Bouqs, Absolut, Comcast, Playstation, EA Sports, Verizon and Time Warner Cable. Schreier has also made a number of music videos for bands such as My Morning Jacket and Francis and the Lights .

In 2012 Jake Schreier made his debut as a feature film director. With the science fiction film Robot & Frank , he directed a tragic comedy with Frank Langella , Susan Sarandon , James Marsden , Liv Tyler and Peter Sarsgaard in the leading roles. The film premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival , where it was awarded the Alfred P. Sloane Prize . He also won a nomination in the Grand Special Prize category at the American Film Festival . In 2015, he directed the mystery drama Margo's footsteps , a film adaptation of the novel by John Green of the same name , which was released in cinemas. Nat Wolff , Cara Delevingne and Austin Abrams played the leading roles .

Schreier is a founding member of Brooklyn- based production company Waverly Films .
