Roots music

Roots music describes the traditional folk music of a country. The term is often used when rock musicians or musicians who are influenced by rock turn to the traditional music of their region, but also to other traditional musical styles.

The term is often used in the US context, where young musicians repeatedly pick up on archaic US styles such as folk , blues and country . But it is also used in relation to so-called world music .
