Roscius Capitolinus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Roscius Capitolinus (his prenomen is not known) was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 2nd century AD .

Through two military diplomas , e.g. Some of them are dated February 6, 158, it is documented that Capitolinus 158 was commander of the Ala VII Phrygum , which was stationed in the province of Syria Palestine at that time .

The year before that, Lucius Versenus Aper was the unit's commander. According to Werner Eck , Andreas Pangerl, the change of the commander in 157 is probably related to the appointment of the new governor for the province, as the governor had an influence on the appointment of commanders.
