The North Pembrokeshire and Fishguard Railway was a British railway company based in Pembrokeshire , Wales .

history

On August 8, 1878, the Rosebush and Fishguard Railway was founded. The company's plan was to build a railway line from Rosebush to Goodwick at Fishguard as an extension of the existing line of the Narberth and Maenclochog Railway . A corresponding operating and takeover agreement was made with this company in 1881. However, the construction of the 22.3-kilometer route did not materialize.

On August 7, 1884, the North Pembrokeshire and Fishguard Railway received the concession for a railway line from Clynderwen to Fishguard . She took over the corresponding rights of the Rosebush and Fishguard Railway, among other things for the use of the route of the Narberth and Maenclochog Railway from Clynderwen to Rosebush. Construction did not begin until 1893 and on March 14, 1895, the route from Rosebush to Letterston was opened for freight and on April 11, 1895 for passenger traffic. The company was forced to negotiate with the London and North Western Railway due to financing problems in the construction of the line . To prevent this company from entering its territory, the Great Western Railway acquired the North Pembrokeshire and Fishguard Railway on February 12, 1898. The line was completed on February 23, 1898.
