Rostislav Stratimirovich
Rostislav Stratimirowitsch ( Bulgarian : Ростислав Стратимирович ; Russian : Ростислав Страшимирович * Tarnovo in Bulgaria ; † Tolotschanowo in Russia ), Prince of Turnovo , the elected leader of the Second Bulgarian uprising of Turnovo against was the Ottomans in 1686 and descendant of the medieval Bulgarian manor house of Schischmaniden .
In 1686 Rostislav Stratimirowitsch visited Moscow , where he asked the Russian Patriarch Joachim for help in preparing the uprising against the Ottoman Empire. The agreement was enforced through the engagement between the prince and the niece of the patriarch - Maria Dubrovskaya. Meanwhile, the uprising broke out in the old Bulgarian capital Tarnowo. Rostislav returned to Bulgaria, but the Ottoman Empire was able to assert itself and crushed the rebellion. Severely wounded, Rostislaw went to the Rila Monastery , where the monks saved his life. After many adventures, he went back to Moscow, where he finally married Maria Dubrowskaja and is thus considered the founder of the Russian aristocratic family Saveljew-Rostislavich. One of his descendants is the Russian writer Nikolai Saveljew-Rostislavich .
