Rotbruch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rotbruch describes the tearing open of red-hot steel (at 800 - 1,000 ° C) during forming . The cause is a low-melting eutectic made of iron, sulfur and oxygen, which covers the grain boundaries like a network. In modern steel production, Rotbruch only plays a subordinate role due to the lower content of sulfur and oxygen in the steel.
