Maurus Cave

The Maurushöhle (also known as Roterbrunnen-Höhle, Maurushöhle, Maurusfelshöhle, Maurusfelsenhöhle, Josephshöhle) is located on the right bank of the Danube two kilometers north of Leibertingen .

The cave system consists of three corridors. The longest corridor is walled up after ten meters to protect the bats and then only has one passage for the bats. The middle of the corridors ends in a stalactite cave. The cave is classified as a natural monument. To protect the bats, it must not be entered in winter. Stone Age finds indicate early use by Stone Age hunters. The cave has an explored length of 376 meters.
