Red Tower (Trier)
The Red Tower is a building and part of the Electoral Palace in Trier in Rhineland-Palatinate . It is located in the Trier-Mitte / Gartenfeld district .
The Red Tower was built as part of the Lower Castle in 1647. Philipp Christoph von Sötern was elector in Trier at this time . Around 1830 the Red Tower was raised by one floor. The Red Tower has served as the bell tower for the Constantine Basilica since 1968, when it was given a baroque roof dome again .
