The Red Sindhi ( Red Sindh beef ) is the most popular of all Zebu dairy cattle breeds. The breed is originally from the province of Sindh in Pakistan .

Sindh cattle are raised for milk production in many countries , including India , Pakistan , Bangladesh and Sri Lanka . Very often they are also used for hybrid crosses with milk races of temperate latitudes in order to combine their adaptation to tropical conditions (heat tolerance, tick resistance, disease resistance, fertility despite high temperatures, etc.) with the higher milk production in temperate latitudes. They are crossed with jerseys in many places , including India, the United States , Australia, and Sri Lanka. They are also crossed with other breeds such as Holstein cattle , Brown Swiss and Red Danish dairy cattle . They are also used to improve meat and dual-purpose breeds in many tropical countries, as they have enough meat to produce good fattening calves in those crossbreeds, which then grow very quickly thanks to their good milk production and can be slaughtered after just one year.

The Sindh red beef is slightly smaller than the very similar Sahiwal and therefore produces a little less milk per cow. As a result, the Sindh red cattle lost favor with some dairy cattle farmers in India and Pakistan . These crossed Sahiwal bulls into their Sindh herds for several generations. The resulting cattle, which consist of three quarters of Sahiwal and one quarter of Sindh, are not considered to be pure-bred Sahiwal.

The Red Sindh cattle are red, from deep red-brown to yellow-brown, but mostly deep red. They differ from the other Sindh dairy cattle , the Tharparkar or Sindh white cattle , both in color and in shape. The Sindh red cattle are smaller, rounder, more of the dairy type and have short, curved horns, while the Tharparkar is larger, more built like the typical zebu breed and has longer, lyre-shaped horns.
