Rotherham County
Rotherham County (officially: Rotherham County Football Club ) was an English football club based in Rotherham in the county of South Yorkshire . The club founded in 1877 under the name Thornhill competed successfully in 1919 for admission to the Football League . After four seasons in the Football League Second Division , the club rose in 1923 to the Third Division North . In 1925 the club merged with local rivals Rotherham Town to form Rotherham United .
