The Rothney Astrophysical Observatory is an observatory of the University of Calgary , about 20 km southwest of Calgary in Canada .

Among other things, it has a 1.8 m reflecting telescope , which, along with the David Dunlap Observatory and the Plaskett telescope in the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory, is one of the largest telescopes in Canada. The observatory has a Baker-Nunn camera with which large areas of the sky can be observed.
