Rottenbach (desert)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rottenbach is a deserted area in the district of Singen in the city of Stadtilm in the Ilm district in Thuringia .

Former location

The desert lay on both sides of the state road 1114 coming from Stadtilm to Gösselborn. About 300 meters before the intersection of the state road from Geilsdorf to Singen, there was a deserted area on both sides of the former road (today state road 1114).

history

This settlement took place in the area around Singen in the 11th and 12th centuries. At that time Rottenbacher Siedler also settled on the course of the small stream of the same name and were closely linked to the development of the village of Singen. In 1341 the village was mentioned in a document. In 1432 the situation was described in more detail. Rottenbach was already given up in 1512, because one then suddenly reported about Wüstenrottenbach . The residents settled in Singen and Hammersfeld . The fields were cultivated from there and still bear the names: Wüstungsflur, the new fields, Rottenbachsäcker and the areas probably sold to Geilsdorf are still called Rottenbach today.
