history

Hammersfeld was mentioned in a document on June 1, 1333 in the record book of Erfurt Stifter II 26. According to Fischer in Müllerott, Hammersfeld is derived from a settlement on the field of a Hadamar. Hammersfeld belonged to Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt ( suzerainty ) until 1920 . On October 1, 1937, it became a district of Griesheim, with which it merged in 1994 in the municipality of Singerberg. This in turn became part of the Ilmtal community in 1996 . Ilmtal was incorporated into Stadtilm on July 6, 2018.

Hammersfeld is an agricultural place. To the east lies a large former LPG site that is still used for agriculture.
