Dienstedt is a district of the town of Stadtilm in the Ilm district ( Thuringia ) with around 340 inhabitants.

geography

Dienstedt is located in the Ilm valley, about halfway between Stadtilm above and Kranichfeld below. The average altitude is 325 meters. The great Kalmberg , which can be seen from afar and is 547 meters high, rises south of Dienstedt . It is forested with pine trees. The valley of the Ilm extends to the south-west and north-east, the Oesteröda valley in the south-east and the Witzleben valley in the north-west . To the east of Dienstedt lies the Tännich , a large forest plateau, and to the west of the town is the 446 meter high Hettstedter Berg. In the north rises the Oberfeld, an approximately 400 meter high, unforested plateau. The Dienstedter karst cave northeast of the village is something special . It is located on the steep western slope of the Ilm Valley and is an approximately 350 meters long limestone cave hollowed out by the water . Dienstedt lies on the border of two types of landscape: the Thuringian Basin lies to the north and west and the Ilm-Saale-Platte to the south and east .

history

Dienstedt was first mentioned in a document in 842. This makes it the oldest part of the Ilmtal community.

The village was divided for more than 500 years, the part west of the Ilm belonged to Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt ( Oberherrschaft ), the southern part east of the Ilm to the rule Blankenhain (seat in Blankenhain ) and the northern part east of the Ilm belonged to Saxony-Weimar ( rule Remda ). Accordingly, the place had three mayors, and the unusual administration found its way into the local coat of arms - three heads symbolize the three lords. Dienstedt was only united at the Congress of Vienna in 1815, and from then until 1920 it belonged completely to Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach . 1922 was the newly formed state of Thuringia the district Arnstadt assigned.

On July 1, 1950, the nearby village of Oesteröda was incorporated; on September 27, 1973, the community of Dienstedt and the neighboring community of Hettstedt formed the new community of Dienstedt-Hettstedt, which was incorporated into the community of Ilmtal on June 1, 1996 . This in turn was incorporated into Stadtilm on July 6, 2018.

The parish of Dienstedt today also includes the places Barchfeld , Breitenheerda , Großhettstedt and Kleinhettstedt .

Attractions

In addition to the Dienstedt karst cave , the Dienstedt village church , the large village green and the Klunkermühle , a foam mill about one kilometer south of the village, are also worth seeing .

Economy and Transport

Dienstedt is an agricultural place.

The village lies at the intersection of the B 87 ( Ilmenau - Weimar ) and L 1050 ( Arnstadt - Rudolstadt ). The nearest train stations are in Stadtilm in the south (to Arnstadt / Erfurt and Saalfeld) and in Kranichfeld in the north (to Weimar).
