To the south of the village lies the Kleinliebringer Berg (502 m) and to the south-west the Frankenberge (538 m). The watershed between the Ilm and the Saale runs south of the village on the other side of the mountains.

history

Kleinliehaben was first mentioned in a document on April 13, 1253. B. von Opitz sold seven Hufen land from the clerk's property to Kleinliehaben to the Count of Schwarzburg . Several knights owned the estate over the years. Alexander von Schade obtained the allodification of the estate by the Prince of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. His son Bernhard von Schade sold the estate to farmers and others.

The second manor “Castrum” was mentioned around 1000, but not documented in a document. Several landlords managed it throughout history. The Paulinzella monastery also ran the business from 1456 to 1534 until the monastery was dissolved. In 1818 the wife of Holleben sold the estate to the sovereign and to farmers in the village and in the neighboring villages. Until the formation of the LPG, the corridor of the community was cultivated exclusively by farmers and part of the area was cultivated by Großliebringer Gut.

The hall church was an old fortified church. The church and cemetery area is still surrounded by a high stone wall today.

Kleinliehaben belonged to Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt ( suzerainty ) until 1920 . Until 1952 the village was part of the Arnstadt district , after which it belonged to the Arnstadt district . On January 24, 1974, the place was incorporated into the community of Großliebringen .
