Oberilm is a district of Stadtilm in the Ilm district in central Thuringia .

location

Oberilm is located in the Ilm valley and is separated from the rest of the city by the Stadtilmer Viaduct , a large railway bridge on the Arnstadt – Saalfeld railway line . The village center is located in the area of the main road on the right side of the river, while the city center is located downstream on the left of the Ilm.

history

Oberilm was first mentioned in a document in 1280 and has always been in the narrower catchment area of Stadtilm, with which it belonged together to the Grafschaft Schwarzburg and later to the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt ( suzerainty ). After the founding of the state of Thuringia , the first municipal reform took place in 1922, during which the town was incorporated into Stadtilm for the first time. The Uferstraße between Stadtilm and Oberilm was already being built on in the early 20th century, so that both places grew together. In the early GDR era and shortly after reunification, a few apartment buildings were built east of the village center. A small residential estate was built to the southwest in the second half of the 20th century. The Ilmtal-Radweg leads through the center of the village , while the federal road 87 leads north-west past Oberilm via a bypass road.

On July 1, 1950, Oberilm was incorporated into Stadtilm for the second time.

The Protestant village church of Oberilm replaced a previous Romanesque building in the 16th century and was later redesigned several times. It is a small hall church with a slate roof turret on the west side. The gallery of the church runs on all four sides, with the pulpit from 1819 protruding from it above the altar.

The technical monument Saline Oberilm is located south of Oberilm . Rock salt was extracted here between 1905 and 1998 .

economy

The Stadtilm train station and outdoor pool are located in Oberilm, as well as a small industrial area where the detergent manufacturer domal wittol (the former VEB Fettchemie Karl-Marx-Stadt ) with around 110 employees and the Thuringian winery Stadtilm are located.
