Rovsing sign

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As rovsing's sign (by Niels Thorkild Rovsing , Danish surgeon, 1862-1927) is defined as the at appendicitis releasable ( "appendicitis") in the area of the right lower abdomen pain caused by the reverse spreading of the large intestine ( colon ) counterclockwise ( towards the appendix ). The triggering of the rovsing sign is not specific for appendicitis, just as the non-triggerability does not exclude it. The sign can therefore only be used in the context of other clinical findings.

It is recommended that this test not be performed due to the risk of worsening inflammation or perforation.

Perman sign after the Swedish surgeon Emil Perman 1856-1945. Pain on the right side of the abdomen from palpation over the left fossa illacta 1904.
