Band history

Too Much Texas was founded in 1985 in Manchester by Tom Hingley (vocals and guitar) and his school friends Gordon MacKay (lead guitar) and Raymond Breckon (bass). The drummers changed several times in the history of the band. The first release, the Flexi-Disc Fixed Link , came out in 1986. It was included with the fanzine "Debris" and was played by John Peel on his BBC show . In the fall of 1988, the single Hurry On Down came with three tracks on the market and was played again by John Peel, who then invited the band to a radio session. In 1989 Tom Hingley left the band and joined the Inspiral Carpets . Too Much Texas released the single Smart and broke up in 1992. In 2006 they got back together with the old line-up and with Pete Marshall on drums they went on tour in England in spring 2006 and released the CD Juvenilia .

In addition to the Inspiral Carpets , Tom Hingley also sings in the band The Lovers . Two former members of the English cult band The Fall play with the Lovers , Steve Hanley on bass and his younger brother Paul Hanley on drums.
