Inspiral Carpets is a British rock band founded in 1983 and one of the most famous representatives of the Madchester .
history
The group was founded in 1986 in Manchester , England . With the Madchester boom, they too belonged to the most famous groups in Great Britain . Her biggest hits were This Is How It Feels (1990), Dragging Me Down (1992) and Saturn 5 (1994).
There had been no new studio album by the group since 1994; A decisive turning point set in after the publication of the retrospective "The Singles" when, at the end of 1995, the record contract between the label Mute Records and the band was canceled by mutual agreement. In the following years, the band members devoted themselves to other projects, such as B. Tom Hingley of his band The Lovers , at times there were personal tensions.
In 2003 there was a reunification with an extensive tour , just like in 2006 and 2007. The concerts were very successful, almost every event was sold out. In March 2007 the album Keep The Circle was released (only available as iTunes download), which contains B-sides and rarities. In addition, a DVD with a concert recording of a gig at G-Mex in Manchester was released.
In 1988 Oasis guitarist and singer Noel Gallagher began his work in the music business as a roadie for the band, to which he had previously unsuccessfully applied as a singer.
On October 14, 2014, a new album was released after 20 years.
Craig Gill, one of the group's founders and their drummer, passed away in November 2016.
