Royal Hobart Hospital

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is the largest of three major hospitals in Tasmania ( Australia ) and the second oldest in the country.

In 1804 the penal colony Sullivan's Cove was established, to which a medical station belonged. It has been in its current location in the Sullivans Cove neighborhood since 1820.

Due to the size of Tasmania, the RHH does not offer all medical services. So the residents of the island z. B. travel to Melbourne or Sydney for open heart surgery or complicated transplants . With around 500 beds, the RHH is Tasmania's largest hospital.

The hospital will be renovated by the construction company Leighton Holdings by 2017 on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Human Services for 365 million Australian dollars (246 million euros) .
