Ruadan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ruadan , also Rúadán ("the red"), is a figure in the Celtic mythology of Ireland .

He is the son of the half- Fomori Bress , who was ruler of the Túatha Dé Danann until his deposition . Ruadan's mother is said to have been the goddess Brigid . In the second battle of Mag Tuired , he was sent to spy on Goibniu , the blacksmith god of the Tuatha De Danann. But he did not keep his order, and on a favorable opportunity Ruadan seized one of Goibnius' spears and tried to stab him with it. However, he pulled him out and inflicted a fatal injury to Ruadan. When Brigid came out on the battlefield to mourn him, her weeping became Ireland's first mourning for death.
