Ruben López Furst

Ruben López Furst (born June 26, 1937 in Buenos Aires ; † July 25, 2000 there ) was an Argentine jazz pianist .

“Baby” López Furst began performing on the Buenos Aires jazz scene at the age of fourteen in 1951. He is the brother of the violinist Héctor López Furst and the bassist Lito López Furst. In 1966 the live album Jazz en la Universidad was released , a recording of a concert (1964) in the Auditorium of the Universidad Nacional de Litoral in Santa Fe ; The album Jazz Argentino followed in 1967 with his trio of Jorge Gonzalez (bass) and Nestor Astarita (drums). López Furst received numerous prizes, including that of the Konex Foundation for best jazz soloist in 1985, 1992 and 2005, and in 1982 Prensario magazine recognized him as one of the three best jazz pianists in Argentina. In 1997 he worked with Ernesto Acher on the Gershwin project , el hombre que amamos .
