Rubis (rocket)

VE 210 Rubis is the name of a two-stage French experimental rocket . The Rubis uses an Agate as the first stage and a P064 as the second stage. The Rubis has a peak height of 2000 kilometers, a starting thrust of 186.00 kN, a diameter of 0.80 m and a length of 9.60 m. The Rubis was launched eleven times from June 10, 1964 to July 5, 1967. With the exception of the last launch, which was from Biscarrosse , all Rubis missiles were launched from the Center interarmées d'essais d'engins spéciaux in Algeria. It was used to test the upper stage of the later diamond rocket .

It belonged to the French VE (Vehicles Experimental) program for the development of air-, silo or submarine-based ICBM or the development of launchers, which also includes the VE8 , VE9 , VA10 Aigle , VE110 Agate , VE111 Topaze , VE121 Emeraude and the VE231 Saphir belonged to. These rockets were developed from 1959 on de Gaulle's instructions by the company SEREB (Societe pour l'Etude et la Realization d'Engins Balistiques) founded in September 1959.
