Academic Rowing Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An Academic Rowing Association (ARV) is a student association that focuses on rowing in addition to student life . Academic rowing associations aim to promote rowing within the framework of student traditions at the respective university location.

The peculiarity of the rowing sport of an academic rowing association, compared to a normal rowing club, lies in the cultural orientation and the predominantly student-academic membership structure. The inter-university contact to academic rowing associations at other university locations is different to other university sports, which are usually only concentrated on their own university. The academic rowing associations maintain joint rowing trips, so-called hiking trips , and mutual visits.

organization

The establishment of an academic rowing association follows that of a classic student association : the students form the activitas ; the academics form the old rulers . All rowing connections have in common the convention principle and the life alliance principle.

In Germany, the Academic Rowing Associations are officially combined in the Academic Rowing Association, which, however, is in fact suspended.
