Rudolf Gigler (born May 13, 1950 in Hartberg , Styria ) is an Austrian writer .

His writing began in 1985 when he began to write down the stories he told his sons. In the same year his first children's book “Der Lazy Paw” was published. Some of his stories have also been heard on the radio (Traummännlein, Klapotetz, Ö1). In his readings, which have already taken him to all Austrian federal states as well as Switzerland, South Tyrol, Germany, Belgium and Istanbul, the children are very much involved in the action. In 1997 he received a prize from the Steirische Leseeule for his book “Der geschnügte Beistrich” , where children choose their favorite book and their favorite author. A specialty are the literary workshops he runs, in which the children produce a book with him. Under his guidance, the children write, draw, design and publish their own book. To date, Rudolf Gigler has written over forty books for children and young people, twelve of them together with students. There are also various articles in school books and anthologies as well as plays.

Gigler is married and has three children. He lives in Stubenberg am See .
