Rudolf Sack is a German angler and author.

Act

He has modernized fishing technology in Germany since the 1970s. Following the Anglo-Saxon model, he introduced specimen hunting in Germany. To this end, he developed techniques to target specific fish species and even specific age groups (e.g. only large, heavy specimens of a specific species) instead of catching all species using random methods. In this context he was a pioneer of boilie fishing for carp in German-speaking countries .

He also introduced new fishing tackle from English-speaking countries to Germany. For example, the swing tip, which has been propagated by the English author Fred Foster since 1976 . Because such rods were not yet commercially available in Germany at the time, Rudolf Sack adapted the swinging tip in a modified form as a lead-weighted brass pin, which was hooked into the tip ring with a carabiner or snap ring, so that it was compatible with the ones available in Germany at the time Rods could be combined.

Sack also made a reputation for himself as an educator against unreflected fishing Latin and belief in miracle recipes. He was happy to subject circulating prejudices to systematic empirical testing. The best known in this context are his experiments and public demonstrations on his house waters of the Ems , in which he showed, for example, using pure window putty as bait or fishing dough with mixed tobacco, that even with such baits large catches can be achieved if only the bait shape and fishing technique are targeted can be used. In this way he vividly removed the basis of existing prejudices. He lives in Meppen .
