Rudolf Scheidl

Rudolf Scheidl (born November 10, 1953 in Scheibbs , Lower Austria ) is professor of mechanical engineering at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz . He heads the Institute for Mechanical Engineering and Hydraulic Drive Technology .

Life

Rudolf Scheidl studied mechanical engineering at the Vienna University of Technology from 1973 to 1978 . He then worked for two years as a designer for the agricultural machinery company Epple Buxbaum Werke AG in Wels. From 1980 to 1985 he was an assistant at the Institute for Mechanics at the Vienna University of Technology, and received his doctorate in 1984. He then worked as a development engineer in the continuous casting technology division at VOEST-Alpine Industrieanlagenbau GmbH and in the paper machine division at JM Voith AG in St. Pölten until 1990 . He has been teaching at the JKU since 1990. From 2001 to 2007 he was Scientific Director of the LCM - Linz Center of Competence in Mechatronics, from 2005 to 2008 Head of the Board of Fluid Power Net International. Since 2009 he has been the deputy scientific spokesman for the ACCM - Austrian Center of Competence in Mechatronics. In 2010 he was awarded the Joseph Bramah Medal by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He is Associate Editor of the Journal of Systems and Control Engineering and a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Fluid Power.
