successes
Rudolf Schnyder took part in the Olympic Games in London in 1948 and in Helsinki in 1952 . With the rapid fire pistol he finished 20th in 1948, four years later he did not get past 26th place. With the free pistol he scored 539 points in 1948, as did Torsten Ullman and Huelet Benner , which resulted in a jump-off for the silver medal behind Edwin Vásquez . Schnyder and Ullman achieved the maximum number of points of 60 points, while Benner only got 58 points and thus missed the medal ranks. In a second play-off, Schnyder then prevailed against Ullman and ultimately took second place. In 1952 he was vice world champion in the team competition with the free pistol in Oslo .
His father Willy Schnyder was also a marksman and took part in the Olympic Games in 1924. He was a multiple world champion with the pistol.
