The Rugby Club Winterthur is a Swiss rugby club from Winterthur . The men currently play in National League B, the women in National League A - the highest Swiss league.

history

The RC Winterthur was founded in March 2009 by three French based on a corresponding idea in the Paddy O'Briens Pub - the pub is now the main sponsor of the association. RC Winterthur took part in the league for the first time in September 2009 and finished its first season with three wins in 5th place. In the following 2010/11 season you could secure promotion to the National League C as a runner-up. Winterthur rose to the National League B for two years with a victory in the relegation game against RC Würenlos. When in 2015 a new league with former NLA clubs and the best NLB clubs was created with the National League B Elite, Winterthur was able to qualify for this. Even after the league reform in 2017, the men continue to play in the second-highest league. In the same year, the Winterthur Ladies, the women's team at RC Winterthur, also took part in the top division for the first time. However, the women's team could not keep up in the top division and was relegated to National League B after one season.
