The Rugotest is a comparison test that allows a surface to be assessed according to its roughness using a reference .

The comparison is made optically, with the eye, and haptically, by touching with the finger. It should be noted that the type of processing ( turning , milling , polishing , ...) of the reference and the surface to be determined must match.

application

The Rugotest is mainly used in mechanical workshops to determine whether the required surface has been adhered to. In contrast to the precise measurement of the surface with the stylus device , the Rugotest is faster and more intuitive to use. However, as the assessment is very subjective, it is not tolerated for classified surfaces, i.e. surfaces with a roughness tolerance.

execution

A Rugotest consists of the various reference surfaces that are attached to a carrier material. Usually it is in a leather case to protect the reference surfaces.

Larger rugotests (wallet size) have reference surfaces for several, smaller ones only reference surfaces for one type of processing. Each type of processing contains approx. 6 different roughnesses in the range 0.8 µm (N6) to 50 µm (N12).
