Rest value (sometimes also rest value , English designation: stagnation or reservoir conditions ) is a physical term from fluid mechanics .

A quiescent variable denotes the value that a state variable describing the flow assumes or would assume if the flow is or would be decelerated isentropically from a certain point under consideration , i.e. without loss, to zero speed.
