history

Trollhättans IF was founded in 1906. The football team qualified in 1925 for the then unofficial second division. In the Västsvenska series she occupied places in the back of the table and thus missed qualification at the introduction of an official second division and was assigned to the third division. In the early 1930s she played there regularly for promotion, which was only just missed several times on the first non-promotion place. 1938 succeeded the relay victory in Division 3 Västsvenska Norra , but in the promotion games you failed because of Oskarström IS . After several runner-up championships in 1945 succeeded in repeating the relay victory, this time she only missed promotion in a playoff against Göteborgs FF in the promotion round. After she had survived a league reform at the third level in 1947, she had to relegate to the fourth division three years later.

Following the immediate resurgence, Trollhättans IF first established itself in the middle division, before ambitions for promotion were registered again in the late 1950s. At the end of the 1957/58 season, which was extended due to the change in the rhythm of the game within the calendar year, the promotion to the second division stood. With two points ahead of the relegation places occupied by Varbergs BoIS , Kinna IF and IS Halmia succeeded in relegation in the first year, before the club left the league as bottom in the following year together with Waggeryds IK and Tidaholms GIF . In the third division, the team found itself in a relegation battle and was passed through to fourth division in 1962.

Before local rivals IFK Trollhättan , Trollhättans IF succeeded as the relay winner of Division 4 Västergötland Västra and made it straight back to the third division, where the team settled in the front area. After several times only a few points were missing to return to the Swedish House of Commons, she moved into the promotion round in 1973. As runner-up behind Helsingborgs IF , she relegated Norrby IF and Karlskrona AIF to their places and returned to the second division. There she played against relegation, who was bottom of the table in 1976. After the direct resurgence was just missed in the first year, the club slipped into midfield of the league. In 1986, the team fell victim to a league reform and slipped back into fourth division. At the same time, the club's women's team had made it to the top league. In 1984 she reached the final of the state championship, in which she was subject to Jitex BK .

In 1990 Trollhättans IF disappeared with relegation from the fourth division of higher-class football, nine years later the club returned as the season winner of the fifth-class Division 4 Västergötland Västra without losing the season. As a newcomer, the team knew how to surprise and managed to march straight through to the third division. After the end of the 2001 season, the first team joined forces with local rivals Trollhättans FK to form FC Trollhättan , which took over the starting place in the third division. With a new first team Trollhättans IF then entered the lower division 6 Trollhättan . At the end of the 2009 season, she rose to the seventh-class Division 5 Västra .
