The Ieschberg ruin is an abandoned early medieval hilltop castle in the Swiss community of Alchenstorf in the canton of Bern .
Location and description
The remains of the castle are on a hill between the villages of Alchenstorf and Wynigen . The floor plan of the castle is rectangular (30 × 20 m) with a recess in the southwest corner. This could be the cistern or Sodbrunnen have been the castle. The facility is located on a 10 m high embankment. To the east there is an opening and the remains of a moat . This indicates that the entrance must have been there.
Based on the location of the castle, it seems to have served to control the box road. The complex was a wooden castle and therefore there are no remains of the wall. In contrast, the earthworks are clearly visible.
history
The castle was never mentioned in a document and there is no information about the owner, the time of construction and the closure. It is therefore undated.
