from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Romanian Cultural Institute (Romanian: Institutul Cultural Român ICR ) is a public body in Romania with legal personality. It is under the command of the Romanian Senate , formerly the Presidential Administration. Its task is to make Romanian culture known abroad and to strengthen its visibility. The Institutul Cultural Român has a network of 19 institutes operating in 17 different countries and is also part of the EUNIC , the association of cultural institutes of the member states of the European Union . The institute has been criticized by Romanian writers such as Nobel Prize winner Herta Müller for being too dependent on the Romanian government.

The German institute named Titu Maiorescu is located in Berlin in the Charlottenburg district.
