Around the castle is a two-day Viennese literature festival , which has been held every year since late summer 1992 in a main tent set up between the Burgtheater and Café Landtmann and other locations in the immediate vicinity.

With free admission, authors from the German-speaking literary scene read - originally non-stop for 24 hours and every half hour.

In 2013, reading was from 4pm to midnight on Fridays and from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays. The other locations were located in Café Landtmann: The Bel Étage above, and the Theater Neue Tribüne Vienna below ...

The organizer of the marathon reading is the marketing and consulting agency Asset Marketing Ges.mbH . It is financed through sponsors. In 2010 the event was about to be canceled because no main sponsor could be found.
