The AED Oil Limited (AED) was a medium-sized company in Australia , the shops in the deposit exploration and exploitation of oil and natural gas in Asia Pacific operation. The company, which was founded for the purpose of the acquisition, development and commercialization of oil and gas fields and their exploration, had its headquarters in Melbourne , Australia and offices in Dar es Salaam , Brunei and Jakarta , Indonesia .

The company declared itself insolvent in 2011 .

Company history

The AED Oil had since 1 May 2005, the Australian Securities Exchange listed (ASX). Since its inception, AED has produced more than 2 million barrels of oil in the Puffin oil field, located offshore approximately 700 km west of the Australian city of Darwin in the Timor Sea . This oil field was only discovered in 2003.

AED Oil held interests in other oil and gas fields such as Brunei Block L (Brunei), Rombebai (Indonesia) and South Madura ( Madura ). The company intended to enter into further partnerships with the world's leading companies in the oil and gas sector. Partnerships existed with the companies Sinopec (China), PetroleumBRUNEI and QAF Brunei (Brunei), Kulczyk Oil Ventures (Poland) and Cooper Energy (Australia).

According to information, AED Oil held 40% of the shares in Brunei Block L since the beginning of 2010 and wanted to expand this stake further, 100% in the Rombebai oil field and 60% in South Madura. AED chairman David Dix said in November 2009 that there are plans to buy more shares.
