Swaging

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Swaging is a type of free-form forging by applying force to reduce the cross-section of solid rods or tubes; it is a typical work step in forging that has been used for more than a hundred years. It is carried out with at least two or more tethered tools that enclose the workpiece. The forging tool gives the workpiece radial blows and thus gives the machined workpiece a smaller cross-section. By stretching the material, you can achieve a higher quality than with machining .

Inner profiles can also be produced by different shapes of mandrels, such as B. splines or barrels.
