Broadcasting

Broadcasting (English multi address calling is) in the communications engineering a term for a transmission of the same information to a plurality of terminals of a communication network . It is a technical switching performance feature .

The transmission to the various connections can begin simultaneously or one after the other. The target information (e.g. phone numbers ) is usually communicated to the communication network in a fixed form when the connection is set up or is made known to the communication network by agreement. Combinations with other performance features such as speed dialing or direct calling are possible.
