Runestone of the Mariakirken
The rune stone from the Mariakirken, now in the Arkeologisk Museum in Stavanger

The rune stone of St Mary's Church of Stavanger (N 251) in the Fylke Rogaland in Norway was found in 1883 at a restoration. The rune stone lay in the foundation of the church and is likely from a burial around AD 1000 and was moved here around 1275 when the church was being built. The demolished church was located near the Stavanger Domkirke and Domplatz. The location of the church is marked by its foundation wall, which is not the original.

The stone has a rectangular cross-section and is about 4.0 m long and 20 cm wide and thick, with smooth sides and a rounded tip. The runic inscription in the younger Futhark contains both short-branch and long-branch runes. The runic inscription in the runic stone style RAK reads: "Ketil built this stone in memory of Jorunn, his wife, Utyrme's daughter."
