Rupert Lake

Rupert EH Lake (born January 19, 1934 ) is a retired Antiguan sports official. He was president of the Antigua Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (AOCGA) from 1976 to 1990 .

Lake was an active swimmer and soccer player himself. He later embarked on a career as an economist. In 1974 he became a member of the Antigua National Sports Council and finally elected its president in 1976 as part of the reorganization of the AOCGA. Under Lake, he was accepted into the International Olympic Committee and the country was boycotted at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow .

In 1990, Lake decided not to run again. Long-time Secretary General Rodney Williams was elected as his successor in the office of President of the AOCGA on May 8, 1990 .
