The Rurtalwerkstätten are a workshop for handicapped people of the Lebenshilfe Düren and Lebenshilfe HPZ to integrate people with disabilities into working life.

They have existed since 1964. At that time, 12 young people with disabilities started their work in a training workshop. The Rurtalwerkstätten now offer jobs for over 840 people with disabilities. A total of 1050 people work here. These are spread over 8 locations in the city of Düren and have different focus areas. This includes; Packaging and assembly, gardening, kitchen, hot ironing, metalworking, carpentry and logistics tasks.

In these areas of work, people should be given appropriate vocational training and employment who, due to their physical, mental or psychological impairments or peculiarities, cannot, cannot yet or cannot yet return to work on the general labor market.
