The Maritime Register of Shipping (Российский морской регистр судоходства, German: Russian Maritime Register ), based in Saint Petersburg, is a global classification society . The notation is RS .

The company emerged on December 12, 1996 from the previous Russian register established on December 31, 1913 and has been working in the field of ship classification since then under the continued class symbol, "PETRO Primo" for Peter the Great. The previous state Russian Maritime Register of Shipping worked as a regular authority until 1993. In the years of its existence, the class has carried out its areas of activity that go beyond the exclusively ship-related inspection activities. This includes related areas such as research, damage surveys or the classification of offshore structures. In addition, the registry works with an ISO 9001- compliant quality management system and numerous other quality standards. The classification society is a full member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS).
