The Russian State University for the Humanities ( Russian Российский государственный гуманитарный университет (РГГУ) , transcription Rossiski gossudarstwenny gumanitarny uniwersitet shortly RSUH ;. English Russian State University for the Humanities ., Abbr RSUH ) is a university in Moscow .

The institution was founded in 1908 on the initiative of Alfons Leonowitsch Schanjawski and was given the status of a university in 1991 in its current form. It has around 30,000 students. From 1939 to 1991 the CPSU party college was located in Moscow's main building . The main building was built in 1912 for the Moscow Shanyawski People's University .
