history

Locomotives of this type have been in production since 1890. The original design came from Wacław Łopuszyński , the mechanical engineering manager of the private Vladikawkas Railway Company . Production ceased in 1915, but resumed from 1925 to 1928. A total of over 9,000 locomotives of this type were produced. This makes the locomotive series the most successful series produced before the October Revolution . Steam locomotives of the type "О" were used until 1964; since then they can only be seen in museums and exhibitions.

The steam locomotives of the "О" series were used, among other things, in armored trains and were used in both the Russian Civil War and the Great Patriotic War .
