The vehicles of the Russian series Ш [ ʃa ] were Russian freight train - steam locomotives with the wheel arrangement 1'D. The design came from the engineer Wacław Łopuszyński . It was the only steam locomotive in Russia that was created using a combination of sheet metal frames and block cylinders. This type of construction was seldom found anywhere in the world. It was created on the basis of the Russian series Ц [ t͡sɛ ]. After it, the Russian series Щ [ ɕt͡ɕa ] appeared on its basis . At 15.3 t, it had a relatively high axle pressure for the time. Therefore it could only be operated on some of the country's railway lines.
