The Rodenzug is one of four traditional youth festivals in Aargau . It is the most important local festival in the Brugg region and is only carried out in this way in Brugg . The rod procession takes place on the Thursday before the 1st Friday in July. This youth festival is the highlight of the Büscheliweek, during which the entire elementary school is busy making decorative materials such as garlands made of box and fir branches to decorate the parade route in the old town. The rod train takes place on the first Thursday in July. After the move, there is a morning party on the Schulhausplatz. In the afternoon there are games for the students and in the evening a fireworks display concludes.

The pull of rods has been traceable since the 16th century. The festival has its origins in a widespread custom, cutting new rods for school-age youth; the rods used to be used as a punishment for disobedient students. Another, albeit unlikely, version traces the rod train back to a reforestation by the youth using hazel cuttings after the damage caused by the Bruges Murder Night in the 15th century. Many elements of the festival have been handed down from ancient times.

Other Aarau youth festivals take place in Aarau ( May procession ), in Zofingen ( children's festival) and in Lenzburg (youth festival).
