Rynek 4 (Lublin)
The building at Rynek 4 is located in the historic old town of Lublin in Poland , more precisely: on the market square .
history
The building was probably built in the 15th century and was converted into a two-story house with an attic in 1582. The top floor was removed in 1887 and a third floor was built in its place. Sgraffito decorations were created in the spaces between the windows during a renovation in 1938. These showed Herme who flanked the windows. The following inscription was also attached: AD 1938 RENOWATA . Later these sgraffito were replaced by polychrome decorations depicting the legend of the devil 's hand. On the first floor between the windows there is the following inscription:
"Takowy bankiet potrzeba sprawować / sedziów, aktorów, jurystów częstować / stać pod ratuszem pewnie noga boli / kieliszek wina czlowiek wypić woli"
