Rypefjord

Rypefjord is a village in the municipality of Hammerfest in the county ( fylke ) Troms og Finnmark in Norway .

geography

The place is located on the west side of the island Kvaløya on Sørøysundet in the fjord of the same name and is 2 kilometers away from Hammerfest. On January 1st, 1,826 people lived in Rypefjord. Sometimes Rypefjord is viewed as a suburb of Hammerfest. In the vicinity of Rypefjord lies the 418 meter high mountain Tjuven and the lakes Breidablikkvannet , Jansvannet , Tyvvynnet and Langvannet . Rypefjord itself can be divided into the four districts of Ytterfjord, Rypefjord, Breidablikk and Indrefjord.

economy

There is a modern fish processing factory in Rypefjord. In general, as in many other Norwegian villages, fishing is an important industry.
